We Won a Peabody Award for Our Coverage of the Fall of Roe v. Wade
We're thrilled to announce that we've won a Peabody Award for our show “The Pink House at the Center of the World,” which documented the day Roe v. Wade was overturned. With filmmaker Maisie Crow, we recorded that day in the abortion clinic that was at the center of the Supreme Court case, and then headed out from there to other places around the country where the effects of the landmark decision were felt.
Congrats to our team who put the episode together – Zoe Chace, Alix Spiegel, Miki Meek, Lilly Sullivan, Diane Wu, Aviva DeKornfeld, Michelle Navarro, Laura Starecheski, and Emanuele Berry – plus the contributors who collaborated with us – Maisie Crow of course, Rebecca Grant and Emma Green. Emma's story was about a woman who's trying to prepare Mississippi for the influx of babies it'll have to absorb now that abortion is illegal in that state. Rebecca's story was about an abortion pill smuggler.
A special thanks to Shannon Brewer and the staff at the Jackson Women’s Health Clinic for sharing their thoughts and feelings with us during this moment of history, the day the decision came down.
This is our show's eighth Peabody Award.
